WISC IV Score Interpretation

Q: Need help regarding interpreting WISC-IV results for a 14 years old 1 month boy:

VCI 74, PRI = 73, WMI = 91, PSI = 76 while FSIQ is 71.

A: Based on the description of score range, this child has an overall IQ in the Borderline range.

Current Wechsler (WAIS-IV, WISC-IV, WPPSI-IV) IQ classification.

IQ Percentile Range Classification
130 and above 98 to 99.99 Very Superior
120 to 129 91 to 97 Superior
110 to 119 75 to 90 High Average
90 to 109 25 to 73 Average
80 to 89 9 to 23 Low Average
70 to 79 2 to 8 Borderline
69 and below .01 to 2 Intellectual Deficient

His strongest score in Working Memory, which is in Low Average range. The rest are in the Borderline range with weakest score being Perceptual Reasoning. The scatter appears normal, which means that there is no large gaps between the scores.

This child would need some educational help in learning better. Hope that helps. Good luck.
