Alternative Approaches to Children Education
By Andrew Loh
As you seek admission in school for your pretty child, you will also
need to make your child ready to go to school, pick up an
application form and fill it up, collect information about the
school and later accompany your child to the school almost everyday.
These are the mandatory steps that parents are required to follow in
order to give that elusive and perfect education for their children.
But, what does “elusive” mean? How child education can be so elusive? Is
it possible to have both scholastic skills and happy childhood
together, so that you can have an intelligent and happy child? All
children are different! All of them grow, develop and learn at
varied rates and levels. Some of them may scholastically brilliant
and proficient, while a number of others could be dull or just
average in their classroom studies. In fact, many of our children
may find it very difficult and cumbersome to adapt and gel with a
rigorous and tough school environment.
As said before, not all children are created equal. At least some
children may simply fail to adjust or cope with the rigors of
classroom education. It may not be simply wise to declare that such
children are dull and poor in their studies. In essence, several
reasons and causes may adversely affect a child to perform very
poorly in the classroom. For these students, mainstream schooling or
traditional school system may not be the sole answer. Parents may
need to think out of the box to find some ways and means through
which they can make them children learn and understand their
lessons.
Nowadays, parents are increasingly looking forward for alternative
approaches to the traditional classrooms to help and assist their
children by providing the best possible education in their life.
Children, who find the traditional type of education delivered
through conventional classrooms very difficult, need immediate help
and assistance both from their parents and teachers. Child education
academicians and experts are suggesting parents to look for
alternative approaches to conventional education, so that they
empower their children to succeed in their life.
What is an alterative approach to education?
Alternative education (also referred to as non-traditional or
unconventional education) may include a number of different
approaches to learning and those streams of learning other than
conventional education. This type of education is specially designed
and provided to meet the immediate needs of children, who find the
ambience of traditional type of education very cumbersome and
difficult.
Alternative approaches to education may include, but not limited to:
Alternative classrooms: Creating a separate classroom to
cater to those children, who often find learning in a traditional
classroom very difficult.
Classroom within a classroom: Teaching and mentoring
children, who find learning in a conventional type of classroom very
difficult, in a special classroom created within an existing
classroom. This method may seek to identify those children, who are
lagging behind in their classroom, pool them in one group and later
provide lessons and tuitions in a highly focused and specific
ambience.
Home schools: Some parents may decide to provide basic
education to their children within the cozy ambience of home; in
this context, home means an area, where the environment of study is
not similar to that of a traditional classroom.
Tip: An alternative approach to children education is a
concept that relies heavily on providing basic education to children
in an informal and non-traditional setting.
All parents must take the responsibility for their basic and primary
education. Parents may also need to find out all the choices and
options that are out there and later choose the one that best fits
their children’s needs and requirements. Parents should never wait
for the system to change and transform, instead seek immediate
solutions for the pending problems. Primary education will be a hot
and dicey topic for most of us and it will remain so for many more
years. Most of the schools around the world are confronted with
average classrooms cores, incompatibility between the child and the
school system and a host other problems.
There are so many options and choices in front of parents but home
schooling, private schooling and public schooling are three of the
most popular and sensible options in front of parents. Today’s
schools may not be appropriate for children; some children may never
gel with a traditional classroom, due to a number of reasons other
than academic and scholastic. Parents must detect, identify and
understand why their children are lagging behind in their classroom
and later find solutions and options that will help children to
study in a compatible and hospitable non-traditional environment.
